AP’s Baltzelle takes over FSNE presidency

Florida Society of News Editors swore in Associated Press Chief of Bureau Jim Baltzelle as the organization’s new president at FSNE’s annual meeting June 18 in Sarasota.

The FSNE board elected Patty Cox, St. Petersburg Times managing editor /presentation, as its new secretary-treasurer. Cory Lancaster, managing editor at the Daytona News-Journal, became vice president.

Baltzelle succeeds Rick Hirsch, senior editor for multimedia at The Miami Herald, who becomes past president of the organization.
