The First Amendment Foundation is pleased to announce a Sunshine Symposium on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the St. Petersburg Times in St. Petersburg at 490 First Avenue South. This all day session is geared towards reporters, bloggers and citizen activists. It will focus on open government, obtaining public records, and media law issues. Presenters will include Barbara Petersen, President of the First Amendment Foundation; Joe Adams, author of the Florida Public Records Handbook; and members of the Florida Bar Media Law Committee. Sponsors for this event include the Associated Press, the Florida Society of News Editors, and the St. Petersburg Times.
The cost to attend is $25 for non-members and $15 for members. A group rate is available for newspapers of $10 each for 3 or more attendees. Sunshine Brigade members may attend for free.
